Nuestra Herencia is an audiovisual production created in close collaboration with the Indigenous Council of the Tacana People (CIPTA), the Tacana Women’s Indigenous Council (CIMTA), the Regional Council Isimane Mosetén (CRIM), the Organization of Indigenous Tacana Communities of Ballivián (OCITB), WCS Bolivia, and the University of Bonn, as part of the project Heritage and Territoriality. The documentary shares reflections and findings on what is considered heritage by the Tacana, Tsimane’, and Mosetén peoples. It portrays how these communities live, feel, and understand their heritage—what they value, protect, and hope to pass on to future generations. It is the outcome of more than three years of collaborative research carried out by Tacana, Tsimane’ and Mosetén researchers committed to memory, land, and conservation. Following the screening, we will have an open and informal round table with members of the project team and some special guest.
Ab April 2026 soll in einem neuen Forschungsprojekt der Universität zu Köln ein mesoamerikanisches Schriftsystem erforscht werden, die sog. ‚epi-olmekische‘ oder Isthmus-Schrift. Die wenigen bekannten Inschriftenfunde dieses Schriftsystems stammen aus verschiedenen Fundorten rund um den Isthmus von Tehuantepec und datieren in den Zeitraum von ca. 400 v. Chr.–600 n. Chr. Bislang konnte dieses Schriftsystem nicht entziffert werden. Die größte Herausforderung für einen Entzifferungsversuch besteht in einem völligen Mangel mehrsprachiger Texte (Bilinguen, Trilinguen etc.). In meinem Vortrag werde ich einen Ansatz vorstellen, der das Potential bietet, auch ohne bekannte mehrsprachige Texte wissenschaftlich plausible (d. h., objektive, reproduzierbare und falsifizierbare) Lesungen im Inschriftencorpus mittels linguistischer Rekonstruktion zu erzielen. Auf sicherer methodischer Grundlage können konkrete Phrasen ermittelt und mit Zeichensequenzen der Isthmus-Schrift abgeglichen werden.
