We are proud to announce that Prof. Dr. Carla Jaimes Betancourt, Bolivian archaeologist, professor in our Department of Anthropology of the Americas, and member of the Working Group for the Llanos de Moxos (GTLM), has been awarded the prestigious Peter Ucko Memorial Award at the 10th World Archaeological Congress (WAC-10), held in Australia from 22 to 28 June 2025.
This distinguished award recognizes Prof. Dr. Jaimes Betancourt’s outstanding commitment to the principles of the World Archaeological Congress and the legacy of Professor Peter Ucko—particularly her efforts to advance inclusivity, equity, Indigenous and descendant community rights, and the decolonization of archaeological practice.
