Foodways in Transition in Ancient Littoral Societies: From Molecules to Cultures
International conference, April 14th 2026, 9:00 - 16:30, Römerstraße 164
This workshop explores foodways from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Atlantic façade. It takes a comparative and interdisciplinary approach across later prehistoric and early historic periods to examine food practices in synopsis with social structures, economic organization, artisanal activities, exchange networks, intercultural contacts, and human mobility . The workshop highlights how communities adapted and developed food-related activities in response to social and economic change.
