Heritage and the Making of Deserts

The focus of the event "Heritage and the Making of Deserts" is to share a South-South research experience between South America & Egypt.
On May 20, the conference “The Material Side of Heritage: The Case of a Theban Tomb (TT 93, Quenamon)” will be presented by Dr. Bernarda Marconetto (CONICET, Argentina). The talk introduces a project that seeks to reconstruct the biography of an Egyptian tomb within the framework of emerging heritage perspectives. In doing so, it challenges the traditional North–South flow of archaeological knowledge proposing an alternative model of international collaboration.
On May 21 & 22, the workshop “Heritage and Vacuum-Making: South American Perspectives” will explore how archaeology shapes heritage spaces and its relationship to the construction of desert imaginaries. It will open a discussion on conceptual imagination from a South–South academic perspective, addressing its possibilities and challenges and the role of methodology in these debates.
