Launched in 2025, Heritage Week connects and showcases heritage research at the University of Bonn while opening it to innovative interdisciplinary exchange. This year’s theme, Heritage Ecologies: Restitution, Repair, and Renewal, foregrounds relational approaches to heritage. It addresses pressing questions such as the legacies of war and looting and considers forms of redress, including reparation and restitution, alongside landscapes as heritage, the role of the sacred, and the future of archives. A special highlight is the New Paths lecture by Shumon Hussain, which introduces the concept of “Deep Time Heritage” and explores how extended temporalities can reshape heritage research through interdisciplinary perspectives.

Vom 13.03. bis 09.08.26 kann die Ausstellung Amazônia. Indigene Welten in der Bundeskunsthalle besucht werden. Die Abteilung für Altamerikanistik beteiligt sich mit einigen Objekten aus dem BASA-Musuem sowie mit einigen Veranstaltungen.

Bei Bielefeld University Press ist der Sammelband Visual Representations – Handbook of the Anthropocene in Latin America VI erschienen. Er ist Teil der sechsbändigen Reihe The Anthropocene as Multiple Crisis: Perspectives from Latin America, die sich mit sozio-ökologischen Krisen des Anthropozäns aus lateinamerikanischer Perspektive beschäftigt. Mit Beiträgen vertreten sind auch zwei Professorinnen der Abteilung Altamerikanistik und Ethnologie:Prof. Dr. Karoline Noack („Acequias Built by the Indians“) und Prof. Dr. Carla Jaimes Betancourt („From the Shores of the Sea to the Lands of Quito“).
