Between November the 27th and December the 8th, 2023, the seven community researchers from the organizations CRTM, CIPTA and OCITB, together with the field researcher from WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society), settled in the Betania retreat house in the city of La Paz to establish a community of practice. This activity was led by CIPTA researcher, Juan Gabriel Supa, and was aimed at reviewing, reflecting and transcribing the data collected by the team during the 2023 field season.
This activity made it possible to re-read and organize the ethnographic experience in a more reflective manner and in dialogue with one's own experience and that of others; at the same time, it allowed for data coding exercises and to begin to elucidate those elements that are perceived as important, abundant, close and permanent in time, based on the data collected in the communities visited that same year.
In addition, the stay in La Paz was used to visit the Laboratory of Additive Technologies of the Institute of Anthropological and Archaeological Research of the UMSA, where the analysis of archaeological materials recovered during the same field season is currently being carried out. Finally, in an online meeting, the Bolivian team shared their experiences and methodological challenges with the rest of the researchers prior to the beginning of the Brazilian team's field season.
