From August 22nd to October 2nd, archaeological work was carried out in Asunción de Quiquibey, at the request of the Tsimane Mosetene Regional Council (CRTM). The change in the course of the Quiquibey River has forced the current Mosetene population to move to the higher areas of their territory, where important archaeological sites are located. After meetings to understand the community's expectations and define the research questions, excavations began at the site known as Jinak Chañes (Arroyo Seco).
During six weeks of work, three units were excavated, which made it possible to document a succession of occupations with the presence of ceramic and lithic material, necklace beads and diverse funerary patterns. The rotating participation of community researchers from different indigenous organizations (Tacana, Tsimane, Mosetén and Wai Wai), archaeologists from the University of Bonn and the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, as well as local inhabitants of Asunción de Quiquibey, was crucial in the fieldwork. This led to an exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge about the findings.
