This workshop explores heterarchy as a model for the shifting power structures in post-Roman Europe. The event brings together scholars from different disciplines to discuss plural and intersecting forms of authority across different contexts. By examining economic exchange, religious influence and social representation, the participants aim to refine our understanding of non-hierarchical systems and their role in shaping post-Roman societies.
