In the last months of 2023, the project "Heritage and territoriality: Past, present and future, perceptions among the Tacana, Tsimane’, Mosetén and Waiwai" has carried out archaeological research within the community of San Miguel del Bala following a collaborative methodology and in this framework, and according to the community´s needs, authorities, population, and archaeologists defined the excavation areas within the community. For five weeks, three units were excavated with the support of weekly rotative community personnel; community researchers trained at the technical level of excavation, and archaeologists.

As a result, different contexts were obtained, and a diversity of materials were collected: ceramics, lithics, bones, metals, and other samples. These remains are being taken to different laboratories with the approval of the community and authorities of San Miguel, who expect results as soon as possible. During this time, there was a substantial exchange between the whole team.
