Soema Montenegro
Soema Montenegro is a singer, composer, teacher, and researcher of the Latin American and Ancestral voice. She began her studies in Musical Composition at the Conservatory of Music in 2000. She delved into different vocal and body methodologies over the last twenty years and is currently carrying out studies and research in Shamanism and the Voice.
Investigate the sounds of several Latin American cultures. She is currently writing a book with Carolina Tapia about the Latin American voice, studying the differences between technique and aesthetics in our voice, intertwining geography, gender, and politics. Likewise, she is finishing her studies in Musicology.
Since 2008, Soema Montenegro has performed as a singer and songwriter, touring countless cities in Argentina and abroad. With 5 albums released, she has performed at important international festivals on 5 continents and her music has received praise from publications such as Rolling Stone, The Observer, The Financial Times, The Wire, and La Blogothèque.
Likewise, an essential part of her work is based on Encounters with communities originating from Argentina and Latin America, and especially on the corporality of those who belong to marginal spaces and minority groups. In turn, in the last 5 years, Soema has been working with women's and dissident groups in music.
